I studied at the University of Bristol on the BSc Deaf Studies interpreting stream (2008 – 2011) and completed my NVQ Level 6 Diploma in BSL Interpreting in 2014.
I have been working predominantly in the fields of media, medical, finance, community and mental health over the past few years. However, I am able to accept bookings in other domains. I am able to work remotely via online platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams & Google Hangout.
I have a keen interest in the mental health sector and work regularly at a Deaf inpatient unit in South London, facilitating communication between hearing and Deaf clinicians and also between the hearing staff and Deaf patients on the ward.
I also have an interest in theatre and media interpreting. I worked as an in-house interpreter at Remark! for a couple of years and have worked behind the scenes on multiple TV shoots since then. I have also interpreted for many theatre rehearsals and live industry conferences.
Aside from interpreting, I am a qualified Integrative, Humanistic Counsellor (member of BACP). I have worked part-time for the past two years as a counsellor at Mind, the mental health charity, in Hackney, working with a variety of clients with a range of mental health needs. I am able to work with Deaf clients too in therapy settings.
In my free time, I am a keen runner and completed the London Marathon in 2017, raising money for National Deaf Children’s Society and have taken part in many other races too. I am a qualified Rescue Scuba Diver and a keen and adventurous backpacker, having recently spent a month in India, and have travelled extensively in South America and Asia. I am also obsessed with dogs & cats and have a beautiful cat called Cleo.
