Taz Hockaday
My work with Deaf people began in 1998 when I qualified as a Communication Support Worker and started supporting Deaf students in education. Over the years I rose through BSL levels and qualified as an interpreter in 2010 after studying a PGDip from the University of Central Lancashire. I am currently a distance student studying an MSc in British Sign Language / English Interpreting with Queen Margaret’s University in Edinburgh.
I work in many different domains including Health, Education, Charity, Social Services and Conferences. I interpret for Deaf professionals in their various workplaces – IT companies to Social Services and have experience of working in theatre and rehearsal rooms. I am quite confident with technology and have a flexible approach to my interpreting work.
I am registered with the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) and am also a full member of ASLI, the Association of Sign Language Interpreters.
